CallAHairDresser.com

Strange right?! It's from CallAHairdresser.com. I'm not yet sure what I really think about it.  In ways I completely agree, however the way they showed it was kinda dumb and non-convincing.  Personally the only box dye I've ever used  is a temporary dye to dye my head blue for a football game at school. I love the girls at my salon so its exciting to go there and salon trips make my hair extra soft.  But  friend and my momma have used them. Both with a not so good experience for the most part.  Both of their box color maybe lasted a third of what a salon color would last.  My mom wanted to be blonde from grey...she got more grey. That time we used a L'oreal box and it like ate more color out of her hair! LAME! Plus her super thin hair got thinner frizzier and just all bad.  My friend, Shelby, and I put highlights in her hair. Never again. We did it outside and like halfway through coloring her hair there were ants in the dye. That was strange but our own fault. She's a strawberry blonde and we tried a few platinum highlights. All the highlights got so dead and dry that if some one tapped her hair it would all fall out.  Also, she must have had a purpleish color shampoo(I don' know what) cause the dye after a few washes looked purple!
My Boyfriend with his hair blue. But this was the time with Pro dye.

Beauty Pet Peeves...What's Yours?

I'm not crazy. Everyone has pet peeves, I am a little more over the top with mine though, i.e. I have a bazillion. Here's a few from my beauty pet peeves:

First on my list is hair that is not my hair or eyebrows.  The moment I even have pricklies on my legs or anything it really freaks me out. I used to shave my arms and everything but my booyfriend thinks thats freaky so I'm trying to be normal but i CAN'T look at my arms. Normal store bought shaving cream absolutly does not cut it for me. Every time I use it I'm left with pricklies. Yuck! I've finally found a shaving cream that Ican swear your legs will never be so silky! :) What is it you ask?.....Amerian Crew Moisturizing Shave.  Yes, it is a men's product but who cares. It has lots of vitamin to make razor burn go away and treats you skin like an extra layer of lotion. A little goes a long long way.  Its a cream/gel not a foam and i think thats part of the reason it works soo well.

Another thing on my list is dry skin. I already got stuck with the lame "Ally Aligator" nickname so I really hate dry scaly alligator skin. Of course the number one solutions is dink water. I live somewhere pretty darn hot so I will drink up to 3L of water every day. However, water can't do it alone. A good lotion can make all the difference(and keeps hair from growing back so quick).  My all time favorite lotion is Original Sprout for many reasons. One is that its vegan. I have to eat meat, its an addiction, but I can save the animals in my own way(products).  Two is it is super dooper moisturizing(since its also meant for babies) so I can count on healthy skin all day long.

Okay only two more things I will say(I could write a full novel but I don't wanna overwhelm anybody). My toe nails! I'm a girl, I love my open toe cute black pumps. When I see people with bare toe nails it really ruffles my feathers. I personally like my toes to be solid color. Decoratios are more of a hand thing in my book.  My favorite go to color is Zoya Ki. Its very elegant. The blue, green, purple really suits my own style. Its fun because it is so many colors in one but it doesn't yell "hey world look at my feet".

And now for the biggest, most peevish thing of the day(all time would be the sound of velcrow) is *drumroll please*..... Frizzy Hair! I grew up in dance so my obsession with having sleek hair is a little over the top and baised, but I still cant stand frizzy hair.  Wheather I wear my hair curly, wavey, or straight I insist it  is smooth. In the morning no matter what I'm gonna do with my hair I start by applying Goldwell Kerasilk Anti-Frizz. Its a must. Keeps all the little whispies in their proper place! plus makes hair super smooth which never hurts. Kerasilk anti frizz also works as a heat protectant so your hair will never look more maintained or as healthy without.

So what's your biggest beauty pet peeve and how do you help eliminate it?? Please comment! :)

Swimmer's Dilema

My Cool Relay Team+Coach Williams
In high school I was on the swim team all four years. I highly encourage everyone to try it! Its all about being in shape and proving to yourself that you are good.  Even if you don't know how to swim any swim coach can teach you. Plus if you feel you're not athletic well so what you wont bring your team down it's (or it should be) all about beating your last weeks time. I loved that sport because of the good work out with minimal sweat.  However there was some dilema it it... one the super heavy chlorinated water and two the awkward tan of a race suit.  So I thought I would do a post for all who plan on trying the swim team come this fall(or maybe spring depending on where you live).

New Stuff for Back to School

So this has been my first week of college. Pretty crazy compared to high school. I only have 3 classes not 6 and because of my own terrible planning I have two 2-hour breaks inbetween my classes. Poop..good for homework bad for the sitting around outside(much so beacause Northern California is a dark gloom of hot smoke and fire right now).
Sitting around outside means also sweating a lot outside. My face took a toll from the sweat in the form of ICKY breakouts.  To compensate I started using and exfoliator and moisturizer along with my normal cleanser. My face cleared so much that even my dad(and mother and sister)all started stealing it! What am I using??..........Dermalogica Clean Start(cleanser), Daily Microfoliant(exfloiator), and Active Moist.
The cleanser I use morning and night. Just wet your face, put a dime sixe amount on your hands, rub and rinse. thats that. It doesn't leave your skin all dried out, it doesnt mke you all red its simple. The exfoliator I only use at night. After cleaning you have to get your hand pretty wet and dump a nickle size of the powder in your hand and rub all over your face in little tiny circles. Finish with the moisturizer. a pea sized dab on your fingers and begining at the neck smooth up through the face. The maoistureizer is just so cleaning a dry to normal oily face doesnt get to dry and over correct by getting to oily and causeing breakouts and a sad downhill spiral.
My favorite thing about these 3 product.....NO leaving it on for 5 minutes. I hate that about some cleansers! I dont wanna walk around with soap on my face I enjoy washing drying and being done! My face looks so much cleaner, healthier, and has a much more even tone, Thank you Dermalogica!

Knot Genie

So because I'm just such a cool kid(not), my car does not have ac. I live in Redding where during the summer our average temp is about 102.  Needless to say I go everywhere with the windows down or I would cook.  Because of the wind, my hair is useually a rats nest when I get out and I always have to wrench a brush through it.

So my little cousin told me I should get the Knot Genie.  Its a brush with a ton of little bristles. I wasn't sure about it at first but wow. It just slide through my very thick, wind ratted hair. Amazing Right! They come in all dirrerent colors to match your own personality. Mines camo:)
There are two downsides...1 is it feels really weird in your hand. Its like the size of an average palm but a little longer no handel.  I think a traditional handel brush is much more comfortable to use. The other one is the bristles aren't very long, may not matter on fine hair, but if you have thick hair you'll definately need to brush top and bottom of hair pushing pretty firmly to get the middle layer.

Betty Beauty

So I guess this is like really popular, but I just learned about it like a week ago.  Its called Betty Beauty, for the hair down there.  For about $20 you get a kit that is specially made to dye the hair down there! Its a no drip easy use dye thats very safe.  It comes in natural colors as well as "fun Betty" colors like puple, green, blue, pink, red, and orange.

Personally I'm not sure if i could do it and take myself seriously when i step out of the shower. But when I told my best friend SamSam about it she was all over it, plus my boyfriend now wants to dye his breard with it.

I think I wanna get some to pull a prank on someone. It says works great for facial and chest hair too, so I wanna dye someones eyebrows pink when they're sleeping.  Thats right don't mess with me :).
The color lasts a little over a month. So its not to bad if it comes out wierd. I wanna know some opinions on this! Anyone tried it what did you think?/

Oh High School

So I was looking through my pic of my 4yrs in high school and had a lot of good memories. Which made me think today I'll say something about my two fave beauty items!
GHD Classic Styler and Hair Dye!

Tight Curls
The GHD Flat Iron is like a 5 in 1! It has ceramic rolling plates.. which meants the ceramic plates add volume and shine with very little damage while the rolling plate mean it's a flat iron, curling iron, crimper and waver. I didn't crimp my hair to much being that it super thick and made me a little poodle ish but the other three were great!
Straight Down
The styler is $185, however I've had mine since I was 13 and now I'm 18 and the only thing thats not as goo is it takes a minute instead of 30 seconds to heat up. Plus the iron comes in its own heat safe box so you can put it away and a DVD to show you how to use the iron in all the different waves.

Loose curls and waves together

Now my dye! I'm a kinda quiet kid but I love to stand out. When I get my hair dyed my Aunt does it professionally with URBZ Color Shock. Which cant be found on-line :/  that and most jobs kinda frown on it. But the up side is there are now "chalks" that you can rub in your hair and wash out at night. I love when my hair and clothers cordinate for special events :) With the chalks just spray on some leave-in conditioner, rub in and comb out!

Wildlife Safari

Over the weekend I went to Oregon with my family and visited Wildlife Safari. It was a blast! We got to have our car washed by an elephant and feed lions and giraffes. Its a drive through and and emu tried to get us. Hardest part is the animals are the funnest to watch early in the morning so we didnt have lots of time to get ready. I took a shower the night before and used Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner. One word...AMAZING!! In all honesty my hair just dried so nice i didnt need to brush it! (but i did)
Heres My Aunt feeding the tallest giraffe. It licked her hahaha.
The Zebras walke right up to us :)
