So I didn't get to have my nails done. :( Things like my car engine blowing up made sure I couldn't. However, I did do my haair with some blue and its natural gold/blonde for Navy Day. I used my hair chalk and tribal pigments for the color. I have always just used the temporary color for streaks or chunks in making braids. Never have I tried to do a lot of my hair and I found a few flaws in the hair chalk and tibal pigments.
When doing streaks, where ever I put the dye or chalk is where it stays. Now when I did my whole underside....it got everywhere!! My entire chest and neck was blue by the end of the day. I looked part smurf! Luckily, it washed out of my skin just as easy as out of my hair.
Anyways, heres what I did:
After showering, I towel dried my hair well then brushed it out. Next, I clipped up what I wanted to stay blonde and got to work. I started with the electric blue hair chalk, and just taking about one inch sections sliding the chalk down the front then back. Once my hair was all chalked I decided I wanted to add some shine to it plus a little bit of a darker color, thats where the tribal pigments blue came in. For the tribal pigments all I had to do was squeeze some on my fingers and run it over the hair. To seal in the color I misted my hair with a little bit of hair stay. Finally, I dropped my blonde and spritzed my whole head with Fekkai Summer Beach Waves and shook it out fir some beachy waves.

Nauticle Nails
So tomorrow, October 27, is National Navy Day. Being a Future Sailor I feel I should celerate. How may I celebrate? I think I'm gonna get some nautical nails and wear navy blue and gold. I've been looking through google to get some ideas about what I want my maniqurist to do. Heres some ideas:
I really like how the pinky is done. Yet I think I would want a brighter red. |
I like the incorperation of yellow but the anchor is lame. |
I enjoy how these nails have "waves" on the bottom but the boat are a big no! |

10 Hair Myths
I have collected and researched 10 popular hair myths. It started when I had heard that you should brush your hair with 100 strokes each night before bed and I asked my stylist about it. After that I kept hearing these other myths and just had to find out FACT or CRAP. I felt like Everyone needed to know what I found out.
1) Brush your hair 100 times before bed.
The myth: Brush your hair 100 times before bed to evenly distribute oils for shinier, healthier hair.
The finding:CRAP. You should really only brush for detangling and styling reasons. Brushing can pull out hair that is still healthy and growing. Plus, the bristles are slightly irritating to the scalp. When you do brush you hair make sure you are using the right kind too. A wide tooth comb is ideal for wet hair while a brush with plastic tips is the best for styling.
2)Get your hair trimmed often.
The myth: Frequent hair trims will make your hair grow faster.
The finding:CRAP. You get your hair trimmed at the ends of your hair which don't have any living cells. So there is no effect on the living cells at the roots. However, getting your hair trimmed may give an illusion of faster growing hair because it looks cleaner and more well kept.
3)Rinse your hair in cold water
The myth:When you rinse out your shampoo with icy water, your hair have a better shine.
The finding:CRAP. The only thing rinsing your hair in cold water will do is wake you up. Water temperature has nothing to do with shampoo. Cold water is a good rinse temperature with hair dye as it does minimize the bleeding of color but shampoo isn't color and should get all over the hair.
4)Switch up your shampoos.
The myth: Your hair can build up a tolerance to shampoo so switch up what you use often.
The finding:CRAP. Your hair doesn't know the difference from one brand to the next. It may seem like your hair has built up a tolerance though for two reasons. One is that your nose can. When you have the same smell for so long your nose may no longer notice the smell. The other reason is the actual health or texture of your hair may have changed. If after a while your hair feels greasy and not clean try something not as moisturizing as your hair is very healthy producing its own moisture. If it becomes dry you hair needs some rejuvenation switch to a moisture repair. Yet if you hair feels fine and looks fine then it is fine and keep doing what you do.
5)"Lather, rinse, repeat"
The myth:For healthier, more beautiful hair, lather, rinse, repeat.
The finding:CRAP. Would you wash your body over and over? Probably not. Shampoo is just soap for the hair. Once its washed its clean. Not that repeating is bad but it is a waste of your money. You only need to repeat if something is stuck in your hair. Just like you only wash twice if you have gunk on you skin.
6)Shaving leads to dark,coarse hair.
The myth:When you shave your hair, it will grow back darker and more coarse with more of it.
The finding: CRAP. The reason your hair may look darker is because it hasn't been as exposed to sunlight. The sun lightens hair and reflects off longer hair making it appear lighter too. It feels more coarse because of the length. A good example is bamboo. Bamboo is very thick and stalky at the roots but flops at the top. So its natural hair is practically the same.
7)Hair dye and pregnancy.
The myth: Dying your hair while pregnant can be harmful to your child.
The finding: CRAP. Hair dyes used to have formaldehyde in them which can be very harmful to a child in the womb and any one else for that fact. However, we have come a long way from that point and there are no longer formaldehyde's in hair dyes.
8) Sleeping with wet hair.
The myth: Sleeping with wet hair can cause bacteria and fungus to grow within the hair and scalp.
The finding: CRAP. Although sleeping with wet hair can be very damaging to your hair, you won't grow fungus.
9) Salon products are the same as store products.
The myth: Hair products are hair products, more expensive salon products don't have that big of a difference.
The finding: CRAP. Salon products are made with a higher standard of quality. They pay to do the research and get the right ingredients. For example, most store products(VO5, Suave, ect..) still contain sulfates which can really damege the hair over time while salon products have healthier alternatives. Also, the strong smells that are in the cheaper hair products can be harmful also.
Last but not least the only wives's-tale I found to be a fact:
10)Smoking may lead to grey hairs.
The myth:Smoking can actually lead to grey hair.
The finding:FACT. In 1997 in England there was a study that did find that people who smoke are 4x more likely to have grey hair. Smoking also has an effect on premature balding!

Pure NV BKT
So last night I stayed at my aunts house so naturally I had to shower at her house this morning. She has lots of different shampoos and conditioners(like 4 sets) so I had to pick one to try. Well, I already knew the EVOLVh was an amazing line so I then had to pick between Markesh Dreamsicle, Scruples White Tea, and pure NV BKT. I arbitrarily decided to go with pure NV BKT, and wow! I'm so happy I tried that one because it's amazing! First of all, it had a great citrus type smell that really helped me wake up. The shampoo lathered really well and the conditioner wasn't to heavy. My hair has a brilliant shine and fells super luxurious. The shampoo of course contains no Sodium Chloride, Sulfates, or Parabens so it won't hurt colored hair(or any other hair) at all. This shampoo was so great that I'm gonna have to buy some for my house. Plus, I think I will be giving their Versatility product a try.

Jane Iredale
So I always love hair, skin and nails. However, I've never been a big makeup kind of girl. Well, slowly that is beginning to change. Pretty much what started getting me into make up is this brand that my aunt introduced me into. Its a wonderfull line that is all about creating better natural skin instead of just trying to cover it. Jane Iredale is the superhero of you skin and makeup! So here is what my aunt hooked me up with so far and how to use it properly:
Zap and Hide($26)- Its a double sided "pen", one side being the zap and the other being the hide. The zap side is a combination of tea tree leaves and lavendar oil to soothe inflamation, and algae and buckwheat to nourish the skin. The zap really does work! With just one use a blemish is gone for the next day. The way you use it is apply the zap over the blemish and around the red area the use the colored hide side to conceal the red and after apply make up as normal. Its great to have in the purse for incase emergencies or as a night time blemish treatment.
Chocoholicks($35)- A lip gloss set with four different shades and flavors of litterally yummy lip gloss. The four flavors/colors are a deep orange with a deep choclate taste with a dash of zesty orange, espresso is a sexy brown with a mocha espresso taste, a plum color that has the essence of chocolate covered berries, and a kissable red that can bring a sweet and spicy sensation to your lips. I love to put this over my normal lip stain for a more kissable look. It comes with a retractable brush to apply or just use your finger!
Mystikol($20)- This is the eye liner from the angels! This is the one stop tool for creating a smokey eye because the pencil is dual sided with a eye liner/shadow and a perfectly matched highlighter. The makeup is made of a creamy powdery texture ensuring that smearing is to a minimal. I got the Lapis Lazuli which is a deep blue color but there are a ton of choices that are all very pretty and shiny and will make any eye color just POP! What you need to do is apply the eyeliner and highlighter directly to the eye using the sponge applicator. Then blend the color with your finger, sponge, or other brush.

The packaging is really fancy and looks like each product must cost hundrends which is always nice when showing off to friends! Plus you haven't even heard the best part yet. For a limited time they are giving out free make up kits to anyone who buys Jane Iredale! So there is no reason to wait, everyone should have this good of makeup in their makeup bag.

A New Me
So I have come to the conclusion I don't like straightening my hair every day like I used to. However I still don't really like wearing my hair natural either(but I do still wear it normal and straight sometimes). So I've been going through me and my sister's arsonal of styling stuff and I have found new style I love and some I can't stand.
From my fave new style to my least:
1)Wavey- I leave my bangs straight because I play with them way to much. I love this look because its new and its not too much. To achive this look, I let my hair air-dry. Then I added Onesta Quench Leave-In Conditioner all over(so the heat wouldn't make my hair frizzy). Then I start by separating my hair into about 1" to 1/4" layers getting smaller as I move to the top. Next using my 1" GHD Flat Iron I start on the bottom layer at the top of the moving down the hair while rotating my wrist and straightener 180 degrees every 2-ish inches. Move the straightener slowly! Otherwise you will never see the waves. As I bring the layers down, I also make the waves closer together. Then after it's all done I spray a very light coat of hairspray. Make sure the hairspray is light too because you dan't want to look like plastic head. Something like Biosilk Spray Spritz would be great.
2) Curly- I love my hair curly. The biggest issue is I can't do it on myself. I don't know why I'm just silly like that. Hpwever, my aunt and sister are amazing at it! When my sister does it she uses her ISO Proliss Wand. She starts with a little bit of Fekkai Luscious Curls(our hair really doesn't liked to be curled). Then with the wand she starts at the top of a section of hair on the bottom of the wand(the fatty part) then wraps the hair up the wand. I love the way my sister does it because I get those really tight spring loaded curls.
3) Up- I've been trying lots of new up dos but in all reality I don't ever like them. I don't have the time to get into the nice ones and my hair is to layer for normal ones. Sure I enjoy my ponytail days and sometimes I like a quick braid but for the most part I need my hair down.
4) Crimped - Okay this was a complete flop for me. COMPLETE! I borrowed my aunt's iTech Pro Crimper and oh no! I looked like a poodle. It made my hair at least an inch shorted and poofed my hair way out! I feel like it may have gone much better if I didn't crimp every layer or if my hair wasn't so thick but it was an OMG moment.

Think Pink!!!!
Its October! Halloween, fall leaves, cooler weather and most of all think pink is here!! I want to(if I ever have some free time) dye the bottom part of my hair hot pink for this breast cancer awareness month. I feel breast cancer awareness is very important. I've known many women who have had to go through it and let me tell you it is No fun. Many groups and companies all love to pitch in their donations this month and you can help too. Of course there are many foundations and places that you can donate but there are also many other ways to help too. Here is a very trustworthy website that you can donate once or recurringly on. If you are strapped for cash there are also many groups in many areas where you can simply volenteer your services or time to help fundraise or teach awareness like self-examinations. Other ways include buying spcial product that show up during October. For example, me being the Beauty Babe that I am always buy the Pink bottles during October. I know I'm going to have to buy some kinda beauty product this month(maybe every week, day, whatever) so I make it a point to get something pink also or instead of. The wonderfull thing about getting the pink packaging is often times they are cheaper too! Like at my favorite beauty website they are offering 15% off all Pink bottles when the pinks are already a few bucks cheaper! How great is that!! So far I've gotten the Susan G Komen for the Cure nail polish set. Its three nail polishes for just 15 bucks! Thats crazy cheap. There are many other think pinks too I just haven't decided which ones I want. I'm also planning on going to a Dirty Girl Mud Race, they send all proceeds to breast cancer funds, which is an obstacle course made to push you but also be fun too. There will probably be one in your area too. So no matter what your part is, dying your hair, volenteering, buying special products, fundraising, its important we all do this together! Remember to Think Pink!!
