Fire Hair

So this Sunday, I finally redyed my hair! My aunt did it for me(and 5 other people, 8 hours of non-stop dye). For this hair dye I wanted my hair to look like upside down fire. It looks absolutely wonderful!! P.S. The picture does NOT do it very much justice.

I promise there are oranges in there and the red is not really that pink.  And no these are not tips. What we did is we took the bottom layer kinda thick and dyed it red then took a thinner middle layer for the orange and topped it off with my platinum blonde! I love it. And there is a definite resemblance from my hair to a lighter when its up in a ponytail. Sadly I couldn't find a hair tie to prove it. The ONLY bad thing about this hair...the first few washes. I have to put up my blonde and orange, really wash the red. Hold the red aside and really wash the orange. Hold ll colors aside but try not to make them touch and wash the blonde. OHH the work we do for beauty. Oh well. If you get a color like this or anything with a blonde and another richer color all I can say it use Goldwell Dualsenses Color Extra Rich. Its the only shampoo/conditioner I've found to really save the separation of color and stop bleeding.

French Tips

Its been a while since I've posted. I know but I've been swamped lately. So much to do in such little time. Oh well now I have lots to write about. Yet I will start with just nails.
Yesterday my best friend and I went to get our nails done. We went to this little shop near our local Rayley's. It wasn't the best nail experience I've had but she did a pretty good job so I can't whine to much. I had her do and air brush french tip for me(because everytime i get color it never matches what I wear and pisses me off). Sam got beautiful purple nails with little blue flowers that were awesome. I was also jealous of Sam cause her lady was a lot better than mine. Plus her lady didn't talk on the phone in Korean the entire time.
Now for all you DIY people I have a great trick for getting that perfect tip look. Use the sticker off an apple to make a line. They aren't too sticky so if you have a color on your base it won't pull it all off and its the perfect size i.e. the oval shape is very versitle. I would also reccomend SpaRitual's French Tip nail polish because it lasts forever and goes on very easy. SpaRitual is in every nail shop I see too so you can trust it.

Boyfriend's Birthday

So my boyfriend, Garret, has a birthday coming up and I got him a pretty awesome gift set thing.  At least I think its awesome( and know that I am not  spoiling his gift cause he never reads my blog).  So for months he has been saying how he wants colored contacts and since his favorite NFL team is the Steelers I got him some yellow and black ones. They are called Angelic Yellow from AC lens. The down side about this part of the gift is he may scare me with yellow eyes.  I also got a Stay Forever in Love breath spray from Blue Q. No he did not ask for it but I thought the packaging was cute and he always needs breath spray since he smokes and it makes his mouth taste like dirt.  Another thing in his gift is the American Crew Shave. I realize now isn't the best time to get it for him(No Shave November) but as soon as November is over he will really need it because he always nicks himself shaving and supposedly this will protect his handsome face.  I did get him the Malibu Betty which is blue not for his down there but because I really want to die his leg hair and last night when I asked he said sure so now he's doomed! And finally a Nook Tablet cover and gift card for all the books and apps he wants.  I had the actual tablet ordered too but the ding-dong went out and bought his own so I had to cancel.  Now all that I have left to do is the hard part. Plan a party. I'm terrible at planning anything so if anybody has some sense on what way I should go let me know!!

Just for Fun Hair

So I didn't get to have my nails done. :( Things like my car engine blowing up made sure I couldn't. However, I did do my haair with some blue and its natural gold/blonde for Navy Day.  I used my hair chalk and tribal pigments for the color.  I have always just used the temporary color for streaks or chunks in making braids.  Never have I tried to do a lot of my hair and I found a few flaws in the hair chalk and tibal pigments
When doing streaks, where ever I put the dye or chalk is where it stays.  Now when I did my whole underside....it got everywhere!!  My entire chest and neck was blue by the end of the day.  I looked part smurf! Luckily, it washed out of my skin just as easy as out of my hair.
  Anyways, heres what I did:

After showering, I towel dried my hair well then brushed it out.  Next, I clipped up what I wanted to stay blonde and got to work.  I started with the electric blue hair chalk, and just taking about one inch sections sliding the chalk down the front then back.  Once my hair was all chalked I decided I wanted to add some shine to it plus a little bit of a darker color, thats where the tribal pigments blue came in. For the tribal pigments all I had to do was squeeze some on my fingers and run it over the hair. To seal in the color I misted my hair with a little bit of hair stay. Finally, I dropped my blonde and spritzed my whole head with Fekkai Summer Beach Waves and shook it out fir some beachy waves.

Nauticle Nails

So tomorrow, October 27, is National Navy Day.  Being a Future Sailor I feel I should celerate.  How may I celebrate? I think I'm gonna get some nautical nails and wear navy blue and gold.  I've been looking through google to get some ideas about what I want my maniqurist to do. Heres some ideas:

I really like how the pinky is done. Yet I think I would want a brighter red.

I like the incorperation of yellow but the anchor is lame.
I enjoy how these nails have "waves" on the bottom but the boat are a big no!

I love the index finger on this one but white nails really don't float my boat.

10 Hair Myths

I have collected and researched 10 popular hair myths. It started when I had heard that you should brush your hair with 100 strokes each night before bed and I asked my stylist about it.  After that I kept hearing these other myths and just had to find out FACT or CRAP. I felt like Everyone needed to know what I found out.
  1) Brush your hair 100 times before bed.
The myth: Brush your hair 100 times before bed to evenly distribute oils for shinier, healthier hair.
The finding:CRAP. You should really only brush for detangling and styling reasons. Brushing can pull out hair that is still healthy and growing. Plus, the bristles are slightly irritating to the scalp. When you do brush you hair make sure you are using the right kind too.  A wide tooth comb is ideal for wet hair while a brush with plastic tips is the best for styling.
   2)Get your hair trimmed often.
The myth: Frequent hair trims will make your hair grow faster.
The finding:CRAP. You get your hair trimmed at the ends of your hair which don't have any living cells. So there is no effect on the living cells at the roots. However, getting your hair trimmed may give an illusion of faster growing hair because it looks cleaner and more well kept.
3)Rinse your hair in cold water
The myth:When you rinse out your shampoo with icy water, your hair have a better shine.
The finding:CRAP. The only thing rinsing your hair in cold water will do is wake you up. Water temperature has nothing to do with shampoo.  Cold water is a good rinse temperature with hair dye as it does minimize the bleeding of color but shampoo isn't color and should get all over the hair.
  4)Switch up your shampoos.
The myth: Your hair can build up a tolerance to shampoo so switch up what you use often.
The finding:CRAP. Your hair doesn't know the difference from one brand to the next.  It may seem like your hair has built up a tolerance though for two reasons. One is that your nose can. When you have the same smell for so long your nose may no longer notice the smell. The other reason is the actual health or texture of your hair may have changed.  If after a while your hair feels greasy and not clean try something not as moisturizing as your hair is very healthy producing its own moisture. If it becomes dry you hair needs some rejuvenation switch to a moisture repair. Yet if you hair feels fine and looks fine then it is fine and keep doing what you do.
  5)"Lather, rinse, repeat"
The myth:For healthier, more beautiful hair, lather, rinse, repeat.
The finding:CRAP. Would you wash your body over and over? Probably not. Shampoo is just soap for the hair. Once its washed its clean. Not that repeating is bad but it is a waste of your money.  You only need to repeat if something is stuck in your hair. Just like you only wash twice if you have gunk on you skin.
   6)Shaving leads to dark,coarse hair.
The myth:When you shave your hair, it will grow back darker and more coarse with more of it.
The finding: CRAP.  The reason your hair may look darker is because it hasn't been as exposed to sunlight. The sun lightens hair and reflects off longer hair making it appear lighter too. It feels more coarse because of the length. A good example is bamboo. Bamboo is very thick and stalky at the roots but flops at the top. So its natural hair is practically the same.
  7)Hair dye and pregnancy.
The myth: Dying your hair while pregnant can be harmful to your child.
The finding: CRAP. Hair dyes used to have formaldehyde in them which can be very harmful to a child in the womb and any one else for that fact.  However, we have come a long way from that point and there are no longer formaldehyde's in hair dyes.
  8) Sleeping with wet hair.
The myth: Sleeping with wet hair can cause bacteria and fungus to grow within the hair and scalp.
The finding: CRAP. Although sleeping with wet hair can be very damaging to your hair, you won't grow fungus.
  9) Salon products are the same as store products.
The myth: Hair products are hair products, more expensive salon products don't have that big of a difference.
The finding: CRAP.  Salon products are made with a higher standard of quality.  They pay to do the research and get the right ingredients.  For example, most store products(VO5, Suave, ect..) still contain sulfates which can really damege the hair over time while salon products have healthier alternatives. Also, the strong smells that are in the cheaper hair products can be harmful also.
Last but not least the only wives's-tale I found to be a fact:
10)Smoking may lead to grey hairs.
The myth:Smoking can actually lead to grey hair.
The finding:FACT. In 1997 in England there was a study that did find that people who smoke are 4x more likely to have grey hair. Smoking also has an effect on premature balding!
